Energy Efficient Habitat Home
Danville Utilities has teamed up with Danville-Pittsylvania County Habitat for Humanity to construct the most energy efficient Habitat home in the state of Virginia. The home located at 927 Riverview Street, like all Habitat for Humanity homes, was constructed completely by volunteers. Danville Utilities provided a grant to cover the cost of energy efficient upgrades including the home's cooling and heating equipment, appliances and fixtures, to meet higher "EarthCraft" energy efficiency standards. This home holds the distinction of being 30% more energy efficient than the standard home built today.
Danville Utilities will continue to collect energy consumption figures for the home, compare these figures to other Habitat houses, and report the amount of savings you can experience on your utility bill by investing in energy efficiencies.
