The City of Danville believes that the building blocks for a strong and vibrant city are stable and resilient neighborhoods. Stable and resilient neighborhoods consist of homeowners with a mix of incomes, races/ethnicities, and ages. In order to help build this type of neighborhood, the City offers many programs that assist low and moderate income residents become homeowners, Details about the programs, and how to apply are highlights below.
Lease Purchase Program This program assists low and moderate income residents become homebuyer ready. Program participants lease a home for a maximum of 24 months while they work to resolve credit issues and become mortgage ready and lender qualified. The monthly rent paid goes toward the down payment. Eight months of homeowner counseling are required. An application for the program is available at the Housing and Development Division offices at City Hall.
Down Payment Assistance This program assists low and moderate income resident buy a home anywhere throughout the City by offering up to 50 percent of the lender required down payment. The home must meet HOME Quality Standards as determined by a City inspector. An application for the program is available at the Housing and Development Division offices at City Hall. This program provides low and moderate income residents with 0% interest loan that is forgivable after five years for home rehabilitation.
