Library Cards

Patrons residing within a 50-mile radius of Ruby B. Archie Public Library located at 511 Patton Street are eligible to obtain a free library card. Individuals who work within the City of Danville who live outside of the radius may receive a card with proof of employment and a valid driver's license, state, or federally issued ID.

An application must be signed in person to receive a physical library card.

There is no minimum age requirement to apply for a library card. Accounts belonging to persons under the age of 18 are linked to the account of the signing parent or legal guardian.

A person accepting responsibility for either a personal or child’s Library account must provide proof of a current residential address and a valid driver’s license, state, or federal issued ID. Acceptable forms of proof of address include a utility bill, rent receipt, lease, or mortgage agreement, address update from the DMV, a postmarked piece of mail delivered to the street address dated within 30 days. The information on the identification presented must match the information on Library card application. P.O. Boxes will not be accepted as proof of address.

Cards are limited to one per person.

Patrons are required to renew library cards every two years.
The replacement charge for a lost or stolen card is $2.

Digital Access Cards

The DPL Digital Access Card can be used to access all of our online services. Eligible patrons must live within a 50-mile radius of Ruby B. Archie Public Library, be 18 or older, and have an email address. Cards must be renewed annually. In order to apply for one, fill out this form. Your card will be mailed to you along with information about the library and services offered provided the form is filled out correctly and in its entirety.
