Due to ongoing public health concerns related to COVID-19, the City of Danville is modifying the structure of somel meetings allowing for "virtual" meetings. Council Chambers and meeting rooms will be modified to allow for proper social distancing.

July 16 has been advertised for the for the Board of Zoning Appeals to hold a public hearing on the following:

  1. Variance Application Number PLVAR20200000110, filed by Mark and Karen Davis, requesting a variance from Article 7., Section B, Item 2 of Chapter 41 of the Code of the City of Danville, Virginia, 1986, as amended (City of Danville Zoning Ordinance) at 734 Mt. Cross Road, otherwise known as Grid 0708, Block 002, Parcel 000005, of the City of Danville, Virginia, Zoning Map. The applicant is requesting a variance to allow for a deck constructed without permits onto a legal non-conforming use to remain on a residential property in area zoned HR-C Highway Retail Commercial District.


Though the municipal building is closed to the public, accommodations have been made to still allow public comment by encouraging citizens to provide comments reserved for public hearings on the published agenda ahead of time. There will be two option for submission: online through a form or by phone at 434-857-3358.


Meetings are held at 10:00 am on the third Thursday of every month as needed in the Fourth Floor Conference Room located in City Hall, 427 Patton Street, Danville, VA 24541.

Applications & Forms

The application fee for an appeal of the Zoning Administrator's ruling, variance, or interpretation of the zoning district maps is $206 and is nonrefundable. Variance Applications, Appeal of Zoning Administrator Applications, or other applications can be obtained in the Planning Division office located in Room 207 of the Municipal Building. Check the Commissions Calendar (PDF) for further information on application deadlines, post dates of public hearing notices, and meeting dates for 2019.
