Wastewater Treatment

The Wastewater Treatment Plant is responsible for:
  • Treatment of domestic and industrial waste
  • The Industrial Pretreatment Program
  • Pumping station operation and maintenance
  • Disposal of biosolids generated by the treatment process
The Wastewater Treatment Plant provides safe, efficient processing of wastewater that meets the Virginia Pollution Discharge Elimination System permit limits and other applicable state and federal regulations.

The City of Danville owns the treatment facility, but contracts with Severn Trent Environmental Services, Inc. to handle the day-to-day operations and that of nine wastewater pumping stations located throughout the service area. Construction and maintenance of the City's sewer system is provided by Danville's Public Works services. For more information, contact Wastewater Treatment at 434-799-5137.
