On Wednesday January 30, 2013 at 0312 hours the Danville Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 815 Claiborne Street. The first arriving engine found moderate smoke in the kitchen and a fire on the stovetop. The fire was quickly extinguished. The oven was removed from the structure. Fire had extended into the cabinets over the stove. They were also removed. No further fire damage was found. The kitchen suffered minor smoke damage.
The cause of the fire was unattended cooking. 3 engines, 1 ladder, and 2 support vehicles responded to the fire and were on the scene for one hour.
The Danville Red Cross is assisting the occupant and his 10 year-old son by providing accommodations.
