[ARCHIVED] Danville Utilities introduces online rebates for Home$ave program

Danville Utilities is offering a new way to apply for rebates through its Home$ave energy efficiency rebate program.

Customers who have purchased an eligible energy saving product now can apply for a rebate online.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for customers who have made their home more energy efficient to receive a rebate,” said Nate Lewis, key accounts manager for Danville Utilities. “Saving energy and money doesn’t have to be difficult, and neither does receiving a reward for your energy efficiency efforts.”

The online process is the quickest and easiest way to receive a rebate, Lewis said. To apply online, visit danvillehomesave.com and click on the “Apply for Rebates Online!” button.

The first step requires customers to choose the rebate for which they are applying, and then enter basic information about the item they purchased, such as brand name, model number and serial number.

A receipt or proof of purchase is required. Customers may send a cellphone photo by email, attach a scanned copy of the receipt, or fax or mail the receipt later.

The second step requires customers to enter basic information about themselves, including name, address and their Danville Utilities account and customer number.
In the third and final step, customers will confirm the information and submit the online rebate request.

Once the rebate application is processed and approved, the customer will receive their Home$ave rebate check in the mail within four to six weeks.

Products eligible for Home$ave rebates and rebate amounts are as follows:
• Energy Star clothes washers - $50
• Energy Star refrigerators - $30
• Qualifying high-efficiency central air conditioners - $145 or $250 (depending on efficiency rating)
• Qualifying high-efficiency air-source heat pumps - $350 or $500 (depending on efficiency rating)
• HVAC tune-up service (performed by a program-qualified contractor) - $55
• Energy Star room air conditioners - $25
• Attic insulation - $0.10 per square foot installed (depending on R-Value)
• Qualifying high-efficiency electric water heater - $25
• Energy Star heat pump electric water heater - $100

Energy Star is an international standard for energy efficient consumer products. Appliances that are Energy Star-qualified generally use 20 percent to 30 percent less energy than required by federal standards.

For more information on equipment that qualifies for Home$ave rebates, customers are urged to visit www.danvillehomesave.com or call the toll-free, Home$ave hotline at (888) 599-0450.

Home$ave rebates do not disqualify customers from receiving additional rebates and incentives on the same qualifying products from other sources.

Danville Utilities provides natural gas, water, wastewater and telecommunications services in Danville and distributes electricity to approximately 42,000 customer locations in a 500-square-mile service territory covering Danville, the southern third of Pittsylvania County, and small portions of Henry and Halifax counties.
