Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 188 Clement Ave. at about 2pm this afternoon. No one was home at the time of the arrival of fire units. Workers at the house next door saw smoke and called 911. Crews found smoke coming from the crawl space under the home. Quick detection and reporting by the workers resulted in only minor damage being done to the home. Fire crews had to force entry to the space and quickly extinguished the blaze before it could travel to the home's interior. The front door of the structure was forced to make sure there was no extension of the fire and to double check for possible people inside. The cause of the fire was undetermined by the Fire Marshal's office. Eighteen fire personnel with 3 engines, one ladder truck, a Command Unit and two support vehicles were on the scene just over one hour. Police, DLSC and Utilities Dept. also assisted at the scene.
