The Danville Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 129 Moffett Street at approximately 07:48 on Friday January 24, 2014. Apparatus responding included three Fire Engines, one Ladder truck and three additional support vehicles to bring the fire under control. The first arriving unit reported heavy fire and smoke from the front of the building. The fire was caused by combustibles too close to a portable heater. Two occupants were home at the time and escaped without injury. Fire department personnel remained onscene for approximately two hours and twenty minutes, reporting no injury in spite of the severe cold and freezing atmosphere. The Red Cross was called to assist the three occupants with their immediate needs.
