[ARCHIVED] Trail section at YMCA temporarily closed on weekdays

Danville Parks and Recreation logo

The Riverwalk Trail section at the new Danville Family YMCA is now closed for periods of time on weekdays to allow construction crews to work on the building exterior facing the river.

The closure began Tuesday, July 8.

Blair Construction, the contractor for the YMCA project, requested the closure because crews need lift access to the roof, wall panels and windows. They hope to finish this exterior work no later than Aug. 1.

The trail section at the YMCA will be closed each Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and each Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. It will be open at all other times, including weekends. The trail also will be open on weekdays when work is not occurring to the building exterior.

During the periods of closure, barricades and signage will be put in place at least 100 yards of each end of the closure to warn trail users of the closure. The city of Danville urges all trail users to obey the trail closure signs.
