At 11:48 this morning the Danville Fire Department responded to a reported house fire located at 116 Oakwood Place. The first arriving engine found heavy smoke coming from a two story home. The owner / occupant was at home during the time of the fire and he reported to the first engine there was no one inside of the home. A second alarm was quickly called by the incident commander for a total of five engines, one ladder, one safety vehicle, and two command vehicles. This resulted in a total of 24 personnel on the scene. The fire was extinguished within an hour of being on scene and a search for victims resulted in none found. Due to the extent of the fire, heavy damage was caused throughout the home causing the occupant of the home to be displaced. After an investigation by the Fire Marshal, it was determined the cause of the fire was unattended cooking.
