On 04-23-18, Danville Police Investigators presented evidence to a Danville grand jury involving an ongoing investigation into drug sales, drug and weapon possession and pornography. This joint investigation in partnership with the ATF began in July of 2017, and culminated in Grand Jury indictments on 27 individuals with a total of 70 charges.
On 4-26-18, The Danville Police Department Special Investigations Division, with assistance from its law enforcement partners, conducted “Operation Blue Thunder” to actively seek out and arrest these individuals.

The Virginia State Police, Roanoke ATF field office, Roanoke US Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force, the Lynchburg FBI office, Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s office, the Martinsville Police Department, Roanoke City Police Department, Roanoke County Sheriffs Office, and the Danville Virginia Commonwealth Attorney’s office.
As of 04-30-18, 20 individuals have been arrested.
