Resurfacing to begin on South Boston Road

Traffic alert sign

Weather permitting, milling and paving will begin Tuesday on the westbound lanes of South Boston Road from the Danville Expressway overpass to Old Halifax Road. The work will require alternating lane closures.

Following completion, crews this week will resurface the eastbound lanes of South Boston Road from Oakland Avenue to Riverpoint Drive.

This section of South Boston Road is the first on a list of resurfacing projects funded by the Virginia Department of Transportation’s State of Good Repair program. The program provides funding for deteriorated pavements and structurally deficient bridges.

Over the next two to three weeks, resurfacing also will take place on sections of Central Boulevard, Memorial Drive, Riverside Drive, and Main Street.

Adams Construction is the contractor.

Motorists are urged to slow down and be alert to altered traffic patterns or consider an alternate route.
