Danville Police arrested David Hampton, age 20, for robbery and abduction in connection with a December 1 incident.

On the evening of December 1, the victim reported to police he met a man that he did not know in order to buy drugs. They walked to a house in the 100 block of Murphy Circle where the man pulled a pistol, hit the victim in the head and forced the victim inside a house.

The man stole several personal items from the victim and then left the area. The victim sustained bruises and other minor injuries from the assault.

Police developed Hampton as a suspect and that led them to obtain a search warrant for a house in the 100 block of Setliff Street where they located the victim’s belongings.  Hampton was arrested the following day in Danville without incident.

The rapid response by patrol officers led to the quick identification and apprehension of the suspect.

The City of Danville has experienced a record low of 11 reported robberies through December 8 2020 and police have solved 10 of those robberies.
