At approximately 8:47 am this morning Danville Police, Fire, and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Wooding Avenue and Hughes Street for a report of a vehicle that had run into a house.
The investigation revealed that a 1996 Isuzu was traveling west on Hughes Street and ran a stop sign before striking a 1999 Ford that was traveling north on Wooding Avenue. After initial impact the Isuzu ran into the side of 702 Hughes Street.
The Isuzu was occupied by a 26-year-old Danville man and a 46-year-old Pittsylvania County woman. The woman was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The Ford was occupied by a 77-year-old woman and an 81-year-old woman, both from Danville. They were transported to Danville Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
As a result of the crash, Zachary Thomas Norton, the male occupant of the Isuzu, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs. He is currently being held in the Danville City Jail under a $3,500 unsecured bond.
