Danville’s Walmart store is competing in a Facebook campaign to win $1 million for organizations that feed the hungry.
Based on the Danville community’s unemployment rate, the store was selected as one of 200 Walmarts across the nation to participate in the company's “Fighting Hunger Together” campaign.
Danville's store was the only one chosen in Virginia.
To win, the Danville store must receive the most votes on Facebook. The store with the most votes receives a grant of $1 million to distribute to hunger-relief organizations. If the store finishes in the top 20, it will receive $50,000 to distribute.
To vote, visit www.facebook.com/walmart and click the “Fighting Hunger” application. Choose “Danville” to cast the vote.
Voting ends on April 30. Until then, people may vote daily.
