A contract crew for Danville Utilities today will begin excavation across Patton Street for the installation of conduit from the existing manhole in front of the James F. Ingram Justice Center (courthouse) to the alley located behind the former Register & Bee building at the corner of Patton and South Union streets.
The excavation will be carried out from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in order to minimize disruption to motorists. One half of Patton Street will be closed at a time. Traffic will be allowed to utilize the open lane.
The excavations will be backfilled prior to 6 a.m., with the street fully reopened to traffic by 7 a.m.
This construction will be the first of four phases that will affect vehicle and pedestrian traffic and parking in this area. The beginning date for each phase will be determined as each previous phase is complete.
