1. What is the purpose of putting brine solution on the streets before a snow or ice storm?

The brine helps prevent snow or freezing rain from bonding to the pavement and impedes hard to remove snow or ice packs from forming during or after a storm.

2. I am unable to shovel my sidewalk and/or driveway in the event of snow. What can I do?

Hopefully a volunteer neighbor or relative will assist you. If not, someone could be hired for a small fee. According to City Code (Sec. 35-22), residents are responsible for snow removal on abutted sidewalks within twenty-four (24) hours after the snow fall has ceased.

3. Where should I park a vehicle during snow storms?

One of the main obstacles for equipment operators during snow plowing is parked vehicles. Once the snow begins, removing your vehicle from the street or cul-de-sac until the roads are cleared will allow the operators to do a much better job.
