Registered voters who will be away from the City of Danville on Election Day, or who are unable to go to the polls because of illness or disability, may vote by absentee ballot.  Eligible citizens may vote in person prior to Election Day, or apply to have an absentee ballot mailed to them. Virginia law requires a reason to vote absentee.

Download the Virginia Absentee Ballot Application and complete all fields, including the applicable reason and all requested personal information. You must sign your application. You may contact our office at (434) 799-6560 to have an Absentee Ballot Application mailed to you.

Your completed Absentee Ballot Application may be returned by mail or fax no later than 5:00 pm on the Tuesday the week before the election.

If you vote in person at our office at 515 Main Street, you may bring your un-signed completed form or fill out a form in our office. Your signature will need to be witnessed if you vote in person. The deadline for absentee voting in person is 5:00 pm the Saturday before the election.

All military and overseas citizens should complete the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) to request an absentee ballot.  Additional information for military and overseas voters can be found on the State Board of Elections website.
