Public Notification for Grant Applications

The Danville Police Department requested and submitted applications for the following grants in FY2012

  • The Bureau of Justice Assistance, United States Department of Justice has identified the Danville Police Department is eligible for a grant of $26,028.00 under the FY 2012 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.  The grant does not require any matching funds and can be used for local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractractual support and criminal justice information systems. Before the grant can be awarded the governing body of the receiving jurisdiction must review the grant and be aware of its existence and intended use.  The Danville Police Department intends to use the grant funds to purchase officer-worn audio/video recording devices.   
  • The Danville Police Department has applied for a highway safety grant under the FY 2013 Virginia Department of Motor Vehicle Highway Regional Crash Investigative Team Grant Program in the amount of $19,500.00.  This funding will be used to enhance the Department’s Regional Crash Investigative Team by providing advanced specialized training and equipment purchases.  Matching funds are in-kind and will not require any additional funding from the City.
  • The Danville Police Department has applied for a highway safety grant under the FY 2013 Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Highway Safety Selective Enforcement- Alcohol Grant Program in the amount of $ 7,200.00. This funding will be used to pay overtime to selective enforcement unit officers for traffic enforcement of driving under the influence (DUI), license checkpoints, and saturation patrols.  Matching funds are in-kind and will not require any additional funding from the City.
  • The Danville Police Department has applied for a highway safety grant under the FY 2013 Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Highway Safety Selective Enforcement- Speeding Grant Program in the amount of $14,376.00. This funding will be used to pay overtime to selective enforcement unit officers for traffic enforcement of speeding, saturation patrols and the purchase of radar units.  Matching funds are in-kind and will not require any additional funding from the City.
  • The Danville Police Department has applied for a highway safety grant under the FY 2013 Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Highway Safety Selective Enforcement- Occupant Protection Grant Program in the amount of $2520.00. This funding will be used to pay overtime to selective enforcement unit officers for traffic enforcement saturation patrols and license checkpoints. Matching funds are in-kind and will not require any additional funding from the City.
