The Commonwealth’s Attorney is a Constitutional Officer and is elected by the people of the City of Danville as its Chief Prosecutor.The office is responsible for the prosecution of criminal and traffic cases in the Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.The office also has responsibilities to answer Petitions for Appeal in the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Virginia.The Commonwealth Attorney’s office has a staff of ten Assistant Commonwealth Attorneys, one Administrative Assistant, two paralegals, four legal secretaries, a Victim/Witness Coordinator, a Sexual and Domestic Violence victim coordinator, and three collection clerks.
The Commonwealth’s Attorney is William H. Fuller, III, who was first elected in 1969 and has been re-elected every four years since then.Mr. Fuller received a B.A. degree from Randolph-Macon College, a Masters’ Degree from Duke University and a J.D. degree from the University of Richmond School of Law.
