The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office for the City of Danville prosecutes all felony cases in the Danville Circuit Court, the Danville General District Court, and the Danville Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.  The Office also prosecutes misdemeanor offenses in all three courts.  In addition to these duties, the office is responsible for responding to Motions filed in any criminal case as well as providing legal advice, when called upon, to local law enforcement in the investigation of criminal offenses.  In addition to the Commonwealth's Attorney, William H. Fuller, III, there are ten Assistant Commonwealth's Attorneys in the Danville Office. 

 ASSISTANT COMMONWEALTH'S ATTORNEYS 

  Leslie M. McCann is a Senior Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney and has served in the office since 1976. Les graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.A. in history in 1966. He graduated from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy with a M.A. and M.A.L.D. in 1970. He received his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1976. Les is primarily assigned to prosecuting felony cases in the Circuit Court and other duties associated with these cases.
 
Robert L. Adams Jr. is a Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney and has served in the office since 1992. Robert graduated from Campbell College in 1976 with a B.S. in government. He received his J.D. from Wake Forest University Law School in 1982. He serves as the supervising assistant over all prosecutions in the General District Court. Robert is primarily assigned to prosecuting felony cases in the Circuit Court.
 
Michael J. Newman is a Senior Assistant
Commonwealth’s Attorney and first served in the office first from 1998 to 2001 and then returned from private practice and serving as a Danville City Attorney in 2005. He also served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Pittsylvania County from 2001 to 2004. Michael graduated from Danville’s George Washington High School in 1989. He graduated from Mary Washington College in 1993 with a B.A. in political science. He received his J.D. from George Mason University in 1996. He serves as the supervising assistant over all prosecutions in the Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court. Michael is primarily assigned to prosecuting felony cases in the Circuit Court. He is also a fourth generation Danvillian and Vice-President of the Danville Bar Association

Wilson C. Pasley has served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in the office since 2004. Wilson graduated from Furman University in 2000 with a B.A. in history and political science. He received his J.D. from the College of William and Mary School of Law in 2003. There he was also the Research Editor for the Bill of Rights Journal. Wilson prosecutes cases in the General District Court, but also appears in Circuit Court and writes appellate briefs as needed. Before joining our office, Wilson served as law clerk to the Honorable Joseph Visalli in New Jersey from 2003 to 2004.
 

C. David Sands, III has served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in the office since 2005. David graduated from Mary Washington College in 2000 with a B.S. in psychology. He received his J.D. from the University of Alabama in 2004. There he was also the Editor-in-Chief of the Law & Psychology Review. David prosecutes cases in the General District Court and supervises the office’s appellate brief writing. He also appears in Circuit Court.

  Travis M. Owens has served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in the office since 2007. Travis graduated from the College of William & Mary in 2004 with an A.B. in history and political science. He received his J.D. from the Appalachian School of Law in 2007. Travis prosecutes cases in the General District Court, but also appears in the Juvenile & Domestic Relations District District and Circuit Courts and writes appellate briefs as needed.
 
J. Allan Budny serves as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney. Allan graduated from Radford University in 2003 with a B.S. in criminal justice. He received his J.D. from the Appalachian School of Law in 2007. Allan prosecutes cases in the Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court, but also appears in the General District and Circuit Courts and writes appellate briefs as needed.
  M. Coleman Adams serves as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney. Coleman graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 2004 with a B.A. in political science and international relations. He received his J.D. from the University of Mississippi in 2008. Coleman prosecutes cases in the General District Court, but also writes appellate briefs as needed.
  Kevin D. Gross serves as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney. Kevin graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 2001 with a B.A. in political science and a B.A. in economics. He received his J.D. from the College of William & Mary in 2006. Kevin prosecutes cases in the Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court and writes appellate briefs. Before joining our office, he served as a staff attorney with the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta, Georgia.
