All dogs (4 months old and older) in the City of Danville must have a current Dog Tag. The tag may be purchased at the Danville Humane Society, located at the Danville Ctiy Farm, or the City Treasurer's Office.  The address is 311 Memorial Drive or by mail, P.O. Box 1565, Danville, VA  24543.   Tags are $5.00 each and must be accompanied by the current Rabies Certificate.  All tags expire December 31st each year.

Effective  July 1, 2007, area veterinarians are required to notify localities when a rabies vaccine is given.  If the owner does not apply for a tag within ninety (90) days, they will be billed for the tag.  Thirty (30) days after this notice is sent, if the owner still has not purchased a tag, the Treasurer shall notify Animal Control that the owner has a vaccinated dog without  a current tag.
