MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATION ANNUAL LOCKUP
Once a year the Danville deputies join forces to fight neuromuscular diseases and to help raise money for research into those devastating diseases, which affect more than one million Americans.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association sets up a temporary;” jail cell” at a public location and the deputies “arrest” local citizens who are then brought to the jail cell. Once there, they are allowed to telephone friends and relatives who pledge money to help with the “jail birds bail”. In October 2007 there was $39,500.00 raised in Danville at the annual lock-up.
