VISITATION
Attorney’s, Probation and Parole Officers are allowed to visit clients anytime during regular business hours (8:00 am – 5:00 pm) with the following exceptions: 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm and 4:30 pm – 5:00 pm.
- If after hours visiting is needed, call the jail and make arrangements with the supervisor on duty.
- To visit with female clients who are housed at the jail annex, the jail staff must be given advanced notice. This is needed for transportation purposes.
- All visitors to the jail are subject to search.
- Do not prop doors to visiting rooms open.
- No smoking in the attorney rooms.
- Attorney visits are confidential.
Attorneys are only allowed to deliver legal material to inmates. The Control Room operator is to be made aware of any items to be given to the inmate and those items will be searched.
Clergy: All clergy visits must be arranged through the jail Chaplain Rev. David Abernathy. He can be reached by calling (434) 799-5130.

Each inmate upon intake is given a visiting list form that must be completed and returned to the control room before having visitors.

Each list has the space for 3 regular visitors and 1 alternate visitor. The list must include the inmate name and housing assignment, name, address, and relationship of each visitor.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
- To visit an inmate, your name must be on the inmates visiting list.
- All children regardless of age must be on the visiting list.
- Visitors 18 years of age and older MUST have photo identification to visit.
- Visitors must register at the public window at least 20 minutes prior to scheduled visiting time.
- Anyone arriving late will not be allowed to visit.
- Only 3 visitors allowed per visiting day.
- Former inmates must wait 30 days before visiting inmates in the Danville City Jail.
- Only persons visiting will be allowed in the Courts and Jails Building.
- No children are to be left unattended in the lobby.
- Only inmates may change visiting list. (Officers may not tell inmate to place names on visiting list.)
- No items may be left for inmates on visiting day.
- All visitors are subject to search.
- Any visitor violating any of the rules and regulations of visiting will not be allowed to visit and may lose the privilege of visiting at later dates.
- Any visitor behaving in a disorderly manner or who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed to visit and must leave the building. Refusal to leave will result in criminal charges being filed.
- All special visits must be requested by the inmate and approved by the supervisor on duty. NO special visits will be granted on weekends or holidays.
- Absolutely No smoking in the visiting rooms.
- Visit may be video recorded.
