Thelbert Childress is a twenty one year veteran of the Danville Sheriff’s Office.  In February of 1988 he joined the department as a transportation officer.  He was promoted to platoon Sergeant in 1992.  In 1995, Thelbert received his Associates Degree from Danville Community College in Administrative Justice.  He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant over transportation in July of 2002. 

Lieutenant Childress is Commander of the JETT (Jail Emergency Tactical Team). The JET Team is the first emergency response team in the jail division.  He is also in charge of the Life, Health and Safety Standards of the Danville City Jail.
