The Danville Police Department is currently working with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office on a series of burglaries throughout the city and county. The suspects typically choose a residence that appears to be vacant. One will go to the front door and knock or ring the doorbell to determine if anyone is home. If a resident answers the door, the suspect simply asks to speak to someone and then seeks another target. If there isn't any answer, the thieves find a point of entry away from common view and force their way in.
If any similar activity is observed please contact 911 immediately and attempt to get any description information that can be safely obtained. Do not attempt to detain any of these individuals.
