The Danville Fire Department responded to 615 Hunter St. at 7:07 am this morning to a reported structure fire. The first unit arriving found a single family home heavily involved with fire in the kitchen and the entire attic. Shortly after arrival the fire came through the roof and fire crews knocked it down from the exterior of the home. All the occupants of the home made it out without injury and there were no injuries to Fire personnel operating on the scene. A total of three engines, one ladder truck, one Command Unit, a Safety Officer and two staff personnel responded and are still on the scene at the time of this release. The Fire Marshal's office investigated the fire and found an electrical short was the cause of the blaze. The Incident Commander arranged for the family to be put in touch with the Red Cross who will be assisting them to find temporary lodging and other assistance. One dog was saved when he was found under a couch in the living room. Another dog did not survive the fire.
