A Danville Police Officer recently received an award from MADD Virginia (Mother's Against Drunk Driving).
Officer Jeremy Williams was recognized among other Virginia law enforcement officers on September 28 in Vinton, VA for his superior efforts in the area of DUI and traffic enforcement. In addition to having the highest number of DUI arrests in the department (21 in 2009), Off. Williams also participated in a traffic and sobriety education program with the Danville Public Schools Summer Camp in 2009. Off. Williams was hired in July of 2007 with street activity beginning in March of 2008. His career enforcement efforts have resulted in 762 traffic citations, which include 60 seat belt violations, 15 child safety seat violations, and 246 speeding violations. He also has 327 career criminal arrests.
