At approximately 5:45 this afternoon, workers at Outback Steakhouse noticed smoke coming from a maintenance/storage room at the rear of the resturant. Fire units were dispatched and the first arriving unit noticed smoke coming from the rear of the building. Firefighters opened the door to find a small amount of fire in the storage/maintenance room. A hose line was pulled and the fire was quickly extinguished. Other fire units on the scene helped evacuate the resturant to ensure everyones safety while firefighting activities were going on. The fire caused minor damage to the room and the siding around the storage room entrance. Fire crews cut a small opening in the exterior wall to ensure the fire had not spread to other areas. Three fire pumpers, one ladder truck, one safety unit, and one command unit were on the scene. The fire marshall investigated and initially determined discarded smoking materials may have ignited the fire which spread into the maintenance room.
