The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a home at 118 Cain St. just off South Boston Rd. shortly after 2 am this morning. First arriving units reported a house heavily involved with fire. The fire crews deployed attack lines and knocked down some of the fire before entering the structure to do a search for occupants. When able to do so, crews entered and did not find any victims. Later information indicated that the occupants were out of town for the night. The house sustained heavy damage throughout and cannot be occupied. The family has a place to stay and did not need any assistance in that area. The Fire Department responded with three Engines, one Ladder Truck, a Battalion Chief and a Safety Officer. In all, 16 personnel were on the scene for almost three and one half hours making sure the fire was out and assisting the family. The Fire Marshal's Office will investigate the incident today to determine the cause.
