The City of Danville wants to make citizens aware that a firing of cannons will take place Saturday afternoon and early evening at the Crossing at the Dan on Craghead Street. The cannonade will be part of the Sesquicentennial Old South Ball hosted by the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Two cannons will be set up on the grounds of the Carrington Pavilion. The firing of the cannons will include a test round at 4 p.m. and a ceremonial round at 6:45 p.m. Three rounds will be fired.
Flyers are being posted to alert nearby residents and Riverwalk Trail users of the scheduled activity.
