The Danville City Youth Council will hold a photography showcase and community panel discussion on Wednesday, April 29, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Danville YMCA, which is located at 215 Riverside Drive. The event is open to the public.
The Youth Council has been meeting since October to discuss issues and current topics of the city. The group has also been working on a transformative photography project to showcase what they would like to see changed or kept in Danville in the future. The purpose of the project is to express ideas through photographs so that everyone can see the same picture.
The project is being developed in cooperation with Danville Parks and Recreation, Virginia Tech and the Dan River Partnership for Healthy Communities.
Council members include five students attending Galileo High School – Reggie Jefferies, Nakia Stephens, Jada King, Dacia Marable and Courtney Howerton – and three students attending George Washington High School – Kristen Harper-Edwards, Orlando Waller and Jamya Whitehead.
