The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire on May 13th at 1:05 pm. Engine 4 arrived in four minutes and found a 1-story house with smoke showing from the rear of the residence. An occupant standing out front could not confirm if there was anyone still inside. Heavy fire was found in the kitchen. It was quickly extinguished with no extension into the attic or other areas of the house. Searches conducted in the house found no one inside. The rest of the house had smoke and heat damage.
Three adults were displaced. The Red Cross is assisting them. There were no injuries related to the incident. The cause of the fire was an unattended pot on top of the stove.
The DFD responded with three engines, one ladder, and three support vehicles. 17 fire personnel stayed on scene for approximately 90 minutes. The DFD was assisted by the Danville Police Dept., Danville Utilities, and the Danville Life Saving Crew.
