Tickets are on sale for the Danville Harvest Jubilee concert featuring grass-roots phenomenon Blackberry Smoke, which will bring its southern rock and roll styling to the Carrington Pavilion on Saturday, July 18.
The show will also feature special guest Halfway to Hazard.
Tickets start at $20 are available at DanvilleHarvestJubilee.org, at the Danville Welcome Center or by calling 434-793-4636.
The band, which formed in 2000, has been hailed as “the real deal” by Atlanta Journal and “an airtight band that is far smarter and more sophisticated than casual observers may realize” by The New Orleans Times-Picayune, according to the band’s website.
The Washington Post proclaimed them “a band that can reclaim Southern Rock for the South,” while Billboard praised their “epic-sounding ballads.”
The Atlanta-based quintet’s playlist is an emotional charged mix of bluesy rock, gospel soul and country.
In addition to being produced by Brendan O’Brien, whose previous production clients have included AC/DC, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young, the band has toured throughout US and Europe, has had their songs featured in movie and video-game soundtracks, and has even performed for country legend George Jones (who incidentally guested on the band’s second album) on his 80th birthday.
Other notable artists who have come out as Blackberry Smoke fans include Dierks Bentley, Jamey Johnson, Grace Potter and the Zac Brown Band.
