Power and light graphic

UPDATE POSTED AT 10 A.M. MONDAY: Line crews today continue efforts to restore power to customers who lost power during storms this weekend. As of 10 a.m., an estimated 100 customers remain without power.

The outages are primarily along Stokesland Avenue, Holland Road and Luna Lake Road. These customers lost power during the storm that moved through Danville around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Danville Utilities expects to restore service to all customers this morning; however, the weather forecast calls for more storms today, so new outages are likely.

UPDATE POSTED AT 10 P.M. SUNDAY:

Line crews continue their efforts to restore power to customers who lost service during storms this weekend. A new line of storms Sunday afternoon created additional outages, with the heaviest concentration in the Luna Lake Road area in south Danville.

Line crews had restored nearly all power outages from Saturday’s storms when a new line of storms moved through Danville beginning at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. As of 9:45 p.m., 350 to 400 customers were without power. A contract crew is working to help restore service.

ORIGINAL STORY POSTED AT 1 P.M. SUNDAY

Danville Utilities line crews are in the process of restoring power to customers who lost service during Saturday’s storms. The heaviest concentration of outages were in the Keeling community east of Danville and in the Orphanage Road area west of Danville.

Severe storms hit those areas and elsewhere in Pittsylvania County on Saturday evening, bringing heavy rain and wind that downed trees and power lines.

At the height of the storms, an estimated 1,000 customers were without power. As of noon Sunday, an estimated 600 customers remained without power. The outages are scattered, which will extend the amount of time it will take to restore service to all customers.
