Danville Parks and Recreation’s Music on Main concert series drew hundreds on Thursday evening. Concert goers enjoyed both pleasant, sunny weather and the classic salsa and Latin jazz of West End Mambo.
Formed in 1999, West End Mambo is comprised of musicians from North, South and Central America as well as the Caribbean. This nine-piece band performed a mix of classic salsa from bolero and rumbas to guaracha and son montuno. Its repertoire included original orchestral salsa arrangements the band has performed with the Winston-Salem, N.C., and Greensboro, N.C., symphonies.
Music on Main is a free concert series held in the Main Street Plaza at 111 Main St. The summer outdoor series will conclude on Thursday, Aug. 20, with Emily Minor singing country and rock and roll. For more information, call Danville Welcome Center at ( 434) 793-4636.
