The Danville Transit System will begin using an automated interactive phone system on Monday, Aug. 31, to inform passengers who have reserved service of their scheduled boarding time.
The phone system is intended to improve customer service by alleviating the need for passengers to call the transit office to obtain their boarding time since the schedule can change daily based on demand.
The notification system also will allow passengers to confirm or cancel trips scheduled for the next day. The system is integrated with Danville Transit’s automated scheduling software.
If passengers are not available to answer the phone when the automated message is sent, then the message will go to an answering machine or voice mail.
Danville Transit staff will send automated notices to passengers each day, Monday through Saturday beginning at 6:30 p.m. If passengers do not confirm acceptance of the trips or cancel service, then the system will maintain the passenger’s reservation.
