Crews pulled an attack line, a back up line and began a quick offensive interior attack on the fire. A ventilation fan was set up and an interior search of the structure found no one inside. The fire was quickly knocked down and determined to be under control at 216 am. The house sustained moderate fire, smoke and water damage.
The Danville Fire Department responded with 3 engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, one support unit and one fire marshal. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police Department, Danville Water and Gas Department assisted on scene.
The cause of the fire was investigated by the fire marshals' office and determined to be improper discarding of smoking materials. Seventeen personnel were on the scene for two hours and 50 minutes. There were no injuries reported. The occupants will be staying with family members.
