The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 521 Claiborne Street this afternoon at 2:50 pm. Crews arrived at 2:54 pm and found light smoke coming from the front door of a one story residential structure. Crews pulled an attack line, a back up line and entered the structure to find a dryer on fire. A ventilation fan was set up and an interior search of the structure found no one inside. The fire was quickly extinguished and determined to be under control at 3:05 pm. The house sustained minor smoke damage but the clothes dryer a total loss.
The Danville Fire Department responded with 3 engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, one support unit and two fire marshals. Danville Electric Department assisted on scene. Nineteen personnel were on the scene for 40 minutes. There were no injuries reported. The occupants were able to return to the structure after the dryer was removed.
