The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 134 White Street on 6/9/16 at 11:05 pm. The first engine arrived to find smoke showing from the back of the house and the roof area. They could see the kitchen was on fire as they entered the house. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire. The fire cause was unattended cooking.
The house suffered significant fire damage in the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the house. The electricity was turned off to the house. The occupants will not be able to live there until the damage in the kitchen is repaired. The fire displaced seven people. All will be staying with family and friends.
The DFD responded with 3 engines, 1 ladder truck, and 2 support vehicles. There were 17 fire personnel on scene during the emergency. The DFD remained on scene for approximately 2 hours.
