The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 668 Holland Road this afternoon at 4:38pm. Crews arrived at 4:45pm and found light smoke coming from the back of a small one story house. Crews investigated the scene and found a fire on the back porch that extended to the back of the house. The owner had most of the fire extinguished before arrival. Crews used a small diameter hose to finish putting out the fire. A ventilation fan was set up to remove smoke from inside the house. The fire was quickly extinguished and determined to be under control at 4:55pm. The exterior of the house sustained moderate fire damage with no extension into the house.
The Danville Fire Department responded with 3 engines, a ladder truck, a command unit and one support unit. The Danville Police Department assisted on scene. Sixteen fire personnel were on the scene for 1 hour. There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire was investigated and found to be discarded smoking materials. The occupants were able to return to the house.
