Parks and Recreation’s Summer Movie Series will continue at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 16 at Legion Field, home of the Danville Braves, with the 1989 American fantasy-drama film “Field of Dreams.”
The film stars Kevin Costner, Amy Madigan, James Earl Jones, Ray Liotta and Burt Lancaster in his final role. It was nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Original Score, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture.
The movie tells the story of an Iowa corn farmer, hearing voices, interprets them as a command to build a baseball diamond in his fields; he does, and the Chicago White Sox come.
The movie is free and will play outside on a 20-foot screen. The concession stand will be open. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. If case of rain, the movie will be shown inside the Coates Recreation Center on Westover Drive.
The Summer Movie Series has been revamped this year and instead of all movies being shown in Ballou Park, they will me scattered throughout the city. Here is the remaining lineup:
• July 29, Frozen, at the Carrington Pavilion.
• August 20, Inside Out, in Ballou Park.
