Parks and Recreation’s Summer Movie Series will conclude at 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, with the fantasy action film “Pokemon: The First Movie.” The movie is free and will play outside on a 20-foot screen that will be set up in the public parking lot on Main Street between First Citizens Bank and the former Downtowner site.
In the film, a scientist genetically clones creatures from the Pokemon named Mew, creating Mewtwo, which begins cloning other Pokemons resulting in disastrous circumstances. The film ends with the message that fighting is futile and wrong.
Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. If case of rain, the movie will be shown inside the Coates Recreation Center on Westover Drive.
