The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 117 Farrar Street at 12:31 am this morning. Crews arrived at 12:33 am and found fire on the left front corner of a small one story residential house. Crews pulled an attack line, a back up line and began an offensive exterior attack on the fire. Upon extinguishing all visible fire outside, they entering the structure and encountered a fire in the wall and floor area in the front living room. A ventilation fan was set up to remove the smoke and an interior search of the structure found no one inside the house. The fire was quickly extinguished and determined to be under control at 12:55 am.
The house sustained moderate fire damage to the wall and floor in the living room, the rest of the house sustained minor smoke and water damage. The house next door sustained minor damage to the siding.
The Danville Fire Department responded with 3 engines, a ladder truck, a command unit and one support unit . The Danville Electric Department, Danville Police Department, Danville Water and Gas Department and Regional One Inc. assisted on scene.
The cause of the fire was investigated and determined to be electrical. Seventeen fire personnel were on the scene for 2 hours. There were no injuries reported. The occupants were unable to return to the house and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
