Due to its popularity, Danville Parks and Recreation has extended the season for kayak and canoe rentals at Abreu-Grogan Park through the first weekend of October.
“We’ve been very busy with rentals this year,” said Outdoor Program Coordinator Kyle Autrey. “We thought it would be good to keep the season going instead of closing after Labor Day.”
The boathouse is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kayaks and standup paddleboards cost $20/each to rent while canoes cost $40/each. The rentals are good through the weekend. Rentals can also be made during the week by calling the City Auditorium at 799-5150, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Boats rented on Friday can be returned on Monday.
