BB&T Scott & Stringfellow announces the relocation of its Danville office to 554 Craghead St., Suite 200, in the city’s River District. BB&T Scott & Stringfellow plans to complete the relocation by Dec. 5.

W. Townes Lea, Jr., Branch Manager of the Danville office said, “Today’s announcement reinforces our firm’s commitment to our clients in Danville and southern Virginia. Additionally, BB&T Scott & Stringfellow is pleased to participate in the phenomenal revitalization already underway in Danville’s River District. We don’t want to be just another office within the community; we want our office to be an integral part of the community we serve. We are confident the relocation to Danville’s River District helps to accomplish this goal.”

M. Scott Waller, Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor, added, “For our team of Danville natives, the renewal of the River District is near and dear to our hearts. We are extremely excited to join in its progress. There is no doubt our clients will enjoy a first-class office experience, and we trust our relocation will encourage them to support and experience all the River District has to offer. We would also like to thank Rick Barker Properties and the City of Danville for helping make this transition possible.”

The announcement marks the first financial services firm to relocate to Danville’s revitalized River District. BB&T Scott & Stringfellow will occupy the second floor of the former Piedmont Hardware Building, which was renovated by Rick Barker in 2014-2015. Barker’s Supply Resources, Inc. is headquartered on the first floor of the historic 21,000-square-foot building.

“We are delighted to welcome BB&T Scott & Stringfellow, a marquee brand, as the first tenant in the new Craghead–500 Block Project,” stated Rick Barker, president of Rick Barker Properties. “Over the next few years, as the 500 Block develops with more offices, retail and fashionable eateries, BB&T Scott & Stringfellow will find themselves in the center of this River District activity. It’s great to see downtown Danville’s former business anchors returning to our city’s vibrant downtown. The second floor has been custom designed for BB&T Scott & Stringfellow’s employees and clients to maximize their River District experience.”

“The City of Danville is delighted to have BB&T Scott & Stringfellow moving into our award-winning River District,” said Telly D. Tucker, CEcD, and Director of Economic Development. “An announcement of this significance, by a national leader in financial services industry, continues to give the city confidence and validation that the investments being made in downtown are worthwhile and will provide future economic impact for the City and the region.”
