FOOTBALL FEVER

When: 7 p.m. Friday
Where: J.T. Christopher Stadium, 701 Broad Street, Danville, VA

George Washington High School will play its last regular season home game when it hosts Bassett High School. Last week, the Eagles remained undefeated in district play (4-0) and pushed its overall record to 6-2 with a 35-14 victory over Martinsville. Bassett last week won its first district game by defeating Patrick County 35-0. The Bengals are 1-8 overall. Kickoff is 7 p.m. The weather forecast calls for clearing skies. The temperature will be near 60 at kickoff.


CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL

When: 10 A.M. to 4 p.m. Saturday
Where: Carrington Pavilion, 667 Craghead St., Danville, VA

From pirate stories, songs and games to pumpkin hunts, a mobile video game theater to build and grow clinics, and a bike rodeo to catching a fish, there is something to put a smile on every child’s face. In addition, this year’s event will feature admission to the Danville Science Center for $1. The event is produced by Danville Parks and Recreation. Admission and activities are free. FALL FLING

When: Noon to 3 p.m. Saturday
Where: Sacred Heart Catholic School, 540 Central Blvd. Danville, VA

Activities include basket lottery, silent auction, cake walk, costume contest, haunted house, bounce houses, and games. Cost is $8 per child. Adults are free. Hot dog and grilled cheese/stew plates available for $5 each. Stew prepared by Milton Volunteer Fire Department will be sold for $6 quart a quart. Call the school at 793-2656 to preorder food.


BE PART OF THE AVERETT TEAMS

When: Various times Saturday and Sunday
Where: Averett North Campus, 707 Mount Cross Road, Danville, VA

The men’s and women’s soccer teams will close their regular season this weekend in Danville. The men’s team will host William Peace University at 2 p.m. Saturday. The women’s team will host Mary Baldwin University at 4 p.m. Saturday and Ferrum University at 6 p.m. Sunday.

The Averett men’s team is 5-4 in the USA South Athletic Conference and 7-10 overall. William Peace is 17-1 in the conference and 6-8-2 overall.

The Averett women’s team is 6-6 in the USA South and 8-8 overall. Mary Baldwin is 0-11 in the conference and 0-16 overall. Ferrum is 8-2-2 in the USA South and 10-5-2 overall.

ACROBATS OF CIRQUETACULAR “SPOOKTACULAR”

When: 4 p.m. Sunday
Where: Pritchett Auditorium, Averett main campus, 420 West Main St., Danville, VA

Spooks, specters and scaredy-cats cavort and conspire through a hair-raising circus of scare. Banshees soar and acrobatic zombies contort from the beyond in this humorously haunted bazaar of the bizarre! This circus features aerialists, acrobats, jugglers and specialty acts that the whole family will enjoy! Tickets are $5.
