City Council will meet Tuesday, Nov. 1, in a business session at 7 p.m., followed by a work session. Both sessions are open to the public.
The business session will be held in the Council Chambers on the fourth floor of the Municipal Building, which is located at 427 Patton St.

• adding a third westbound lane on a portion of South Boston Road.
City Council also is scheduled to vote on three other matters:
• amending the City’s budget to provide for receipt of an $86,999 grant from the Department of Juvenile Justice for the W.W. Moore Jr. Detention Home.
• reappointing Russell Reynolds as a member of the Industrial Development Authority.
• reappointing T. Neal Morris as a member of the Industrial Development Authority.
For the work session, City Council will hear a presentation of a space needs study. City Council also will meet in a closed session for discussion concerning a prospective business or industry related to economic development.
