Cross Rd. at Womack Dr. The first arriving apparatus found two vehicles approximately 150' apart with significant damage to both. The initial investigation revealed an occupant in each vehicle was pinned in by the damage. The road was quickly closed by the Danville Police Department. The DFD responded with 2 engines and 3 support vehicles. The DLSC responded with 4 transports, 2 crash trucks, and many personnel.
Due to the extent of the damage and the distance between vehicles, a DLSC crash truck was assigned to each. The first vehicle had one occupant inside. Extrication time was 30 - 35 minutes. This victim was transported with serious injuries. The second vehicle had two occupants. One person did not require extrication. This patient was the first to leave the scene by DLSC ambulance to DRMC. The extrication of the second person took approximately 1 hour.
